This photo bring’s back some fond memories of a hiking trip I did a number of years back with one of my best bro’s Dan “Disco” Mcrae. Wet set off in the pouring rain after getting a ride for 60 km or so in a tree planters crummy to the Elaho Trail head. It was to be a three or four day hike. We had car dropped our vehicle the day prior near Meager Ck Hotsprings outside of Pemberton.
We hiked through some of the oldest growth spruce stands on the planet and were keen to make our intended camp spots each night as we paraded through the amazing but very muddy coastal rain forest. On the third day we reached a dramatic plateau and sat down to enjoy the amazing views of many layers of cascading alpine lakes. The warm afternoon sun was basking down and made up for the previous cold and wet night. We must haveĀ been pretty tired as we both drifted off to sleep in the perfection of the moment. We awoke hours later as the sun was cresting the horizon a little chilled. I took this shot and love the similarities it has with the reflecting that was done that awesome afternoon.
We made it down the next day only to realize we had forgot which clear cut we had left the car in. After a few hours of tracking and back tracking we found our vehicle and were immersed in the oh so needed hot springs.
A highly recommended hike, lets do it again soon Disco

Dear Shawn, i am interested in you photo Elaho or ‘A time for reflection’. I saw a print in Mole in Victoria and particularly liked the calm reflection. I would be looking for a particular size being slightly larger than 25.2″ x 40.2″ and would need to have the print shipped to Melbourne Australia. Would it be framed or would it be shipped in a roll? What would be the cost ex shipping? Best Regards David Ormerod
